The team claimed their Aegis of Championship, popped open a bottle of champagne, and quickly departed to celebrate the historic win.

Team Liquid, hot off a 2-1 series against LGD Forever Young, returned once again to a Nature's Prophet for Ivan "MinD_ContRoL" Borislavov Ivanov in game 1.

The European team beat the Chinese opponents Newbee, which took home $3.9 million for a second-place position.

But Newbee came back with a vengeance during the main event when they met LFY during the Upper Bracket Finals, which determined the first Grand Finalist. This secured Newbee a guaranteed top two finish for TI7, and their almost $4 million prize.

It has been a record-setting day for Liquid in many respects, as the team also became the first squad to ever win a Grand Finals at The International in a sweep. LFY specifically went undefeated until the last day, though at that point they had already secured the top Upper Bracket slot for the main event. Forever Young, who sought a rematch against Newbee in the Grand Final after Friday's loss.

Dillard's slumped 15.5 percent after the chain booked a loss for the second quarter as increased inventory led to big discounts. The S&P hasn't moved more than 0.5 per cent in one day since July and has fallen more than 1 per cent only twice this year.

This year's tournament saw 18 teams from six regions - North America, China, Europe, Southeast Asia, CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) and South America - competing in The International, which is often dubbed the "World Cup" of Dota 2.

Chinese team LFY - which has a sole Malaysian player, "Ahfu" Tue Soon Chuan - came in third at the prestigious The International 2017 Dota 2, winning US$2.5mil (RM10.7mil). Meanwhile, Liquid fans are likely ecstatic for team captain Kuro "KuroKy" Salehi Takhasomi, who has failed to place in the top six of the global since 2013, as a member of esports organization Alliance despite appearing at six of the seven Internationals.

Team Liquid, coming in from the loser's bracket, closed out the match and were sitting on a 2-0 lead against Newbee, with one game between the team and a $US10 ($13) million finish. According to Valve, the TI7 Grand Final reached 4.7 million viewers across streaming platforms and within the Dota 2 client.
