Trump and Macron spoke over phone and discussed the need to confront the increasingly risky situation regarding North Korea's destabilising and escalatory behaviour, the White House said. Guam is a U.S. territory in an area of the Pacific that North Korea has threatened to strike with missiles. It said Wednesday that plans for a strike near the island would be complete by mid-August. And this man will not get away with what he is doing, believe me. Guam's Homeland Security adviser, George Charfauros, said on Friday it would take 14 minutes for a missile fired from North Korea to reach Guam.

DPRK stands for North Korea's official name, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. Donald Trump's decision to explicitly threaten North Korea as part of his escalating war of words with Kim Jong Un has made the nightmare scenario feel more likely than ever.

The North Korean Government accused President Clinton today of provoking it with threats of war after he warned that the United States would retaliate if North Korea developed nuclear arms.

Earlier this week, Trump said that North Korea would be met with "fire and fury" if it made further threats against the US, and then on Thursday, he suggested that those words may not have been "tough enough" after the threats from North Korea continued.
