Kisner shot 4-under 67 for the second consecutive day in Round 2 and held a four-shot lead over the field Friday afternoon at 8 under.

He is tied with American Kevin Kisner on eight-under par and the duo are two shots clear of third-placed Jason Day.

Phil the Thrill offered no thrills whatsoever to those in Charlotte with rounds of 79 and 74 at the PGA Championship, missing the cut by a mile and looking every bit his age of 47 - if not older.

He finished runner-up to Jason Day two years ago at Whistling Straits and finished T-13 last year at Baltusrol, but he missed the cut in his first two attempts, a number that accounts for two-thirds of his career missed cuts in major championships.

"I looked down and I could see it was completely bent". He has not won an event since the 2013 British Open and is now ranked 17th in the U.S. Presidents Cup standings. "Keep knocking on the door, and hopefully one day it will open", he said Friday through a translator. "I missed a lot of putts, including two very small ones".

"I had to catch my breath for a second a few times", he said.

"Didn't do anything great today but I didn't do anything bad".

Indian golfer Anirban Lahiri carded one-over 72 to be tied 33rd in the first round of the PGA Championship at the Quail Hollow Club here on Thursday.

Action again North Korea's ballistic missiles a hard call for US

Hideki Matsuyama made only one birdie and wasted two good scoring chances on the back nine. "Stricker said, "[Mickelson] told me he wants to be on this team more than anything. but just like anybody else, I have got to see who is playing well at the time. "I think a big step is just understanding that no lead is safe".

"I feel like my game truly suits the other three majors maybe more than a PGA Championship". Yet, after going to three-over a couple of times, I am very happy with the way I finished with two birdies on seventh and ninth and a very short miss on eighth in between. "But I've just got to focus on just trying to control what I can do out there".

But even though he continues to look a shadow of the player who won made it back-to-back Majors with that 2014 victory in this event, the Quail Hollow course record holder refuses to accept this as a lost cause. His chip stopped about 10 feet from the hole and after that bogey putt went wide right, he tapped in for a double bogey that left him six strokes behind Kisner.

"It is frustrating to me because I'm sitting there, and I'm like, 'My game is not where it should be". I think players spend too much work into figuring out golf courses, instead of just getting the ball in the hole.

"I know that I can (win)".

"I can't believe Col Swatton (his caddie) did not give him a wedge and start walking, say that's the only choice mate". 14 and 17 and his only bogey of the day on the 12th hole.

"Hopefully it doesn't happen [at Quail Hollow]".
