Clear The Shelters encourages more adoptions

The Southeast Kansas Humane Society will do just about anything in order to help find dogs and cats a permanent home.

Solano County Animal Care Services will participate in the national Clear the Shelters 2017 campaign Saturday.

"Last year we helped clear the shelter by working with a partner shelter in Westbrook and supplying cats to them for the Clear the Shelters event", Smith said.

"The goal is to #ClearTheShelters by finding forever homes for as many pets as possible", the statement accompanying the list said. The idea is that folks might be more inclined to adopt a pet at a lowered up-front cost.

The Aiken County Animal Shelter and Friends of the Animal Shelter (FOTAS) are gearing up for "Clear the Shelters" this weekend.

"We expect to have the shelter cleared by 3 p.m.", she said. They will be having a carnival style event, Dog Days of Summer with water slides and games and will be grilling food for everyone that runs from 11 3 p.m.

Putney said that people do not always check off all the boxes before bringing an animal home.

The Santa Monica Animal Shelter is a division of the city's police department.

The Parker County Animal Shelter has participated every year.
