Pundits are already calling for it to be "the most tweeted event ever" or the "most photographed natural event ever", and here in Avon we are heavily underway with our preparations for our Solar Eclipse Watch Party hosted by our friends at the Westin Riverfront Resort and Spa.

In St. Thomas, the eclipse will begin at 2:14 p.m., when the Moon will begin to block out the edge of the Sun.

The total solar eclipse follows a path from Lincoln Beach, Oregon, to Charleston, South Carolina.

To help the public get a better look at the partial eclipse, Siena College is hosting a viewing party from 1 to 4 p.m. on its Loudonville, New York campus.

The intent of providing glasses is to make sure students are safe while viewing the eclipse, but the university isn't going to turn people away if they aren't students, Pennington said. Never look directly at the sun.

Siena is not the only area college opening up its observatory on Monday. Looking at the sun any other way - with your naked eye, sunglasses, or eclipse glasses / welding masks that don't meet standards will likely leave you with permanent eye damage.

What you want are either welders glasses, you really want to use degree 14, or you can get those fancy solar eclipse glasses that you might have found at your local library, your local science museum.

"I've seen a lot of people wanting to buy glasses, and in three days we were sold out of the glasses", says Planetarium Director at UT Arlington, Levent Gurdemir.

However, the sun's corona will only be visible to those in the path of its total eclipse.

He's brought his gear and knows you're going to ruin your camera if you try to grab a photo of the eclipse unless you know what you're doing.

Another common question people have is when do they need to wear the eclipse glasses.

"In the museum field we call those sticky memories". I'm serious, don't laugh this off, if you stare right into the elclipse, you could go blind and no one wants that. For those who can not watch the eclipse live, there are various channels online that will be live streaming the whole event online. That said, there are plenty of ways to make your own eclipse that fit with your lifestyle.

This is a unique chance for Viall to collect data only available during eclipses.
