Police hunt four suspects over Spain attacks

Islamic extremist group Isis have claimed responsibility for the attacks via their Amaq News Agency.

Three of the men, all thought to be of Moroccan origin and including chief suspect Moussa Oukabir, were said to have been killed by Spanish police during the second attack in Cambrils on Thursday night.

A woman injured in the ramming died of her injuries in hospital on Friday, Catalan authorities said, bringing the death toll of the two attacks to 14. Younes Abouyaaqoub (far right), is also a suspect. Police were investigating whether one of the attackers was the driver of the van used in the Barcelona attack. Police believe the explosion, which killed one person and injured seven others, was caused an attempt to make explosive devices.

At least one American was killed in the attacks, US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said.

There were some three dozen nationalities among the dead and injured who came from countries as varied as France, Pakistan, Spain, the Netherlands, China, Venezuela, Mauritania, Australia, Britain and the United States.

Catalan police have identified the five terrorists who were shot dead in Cambrils. In total, the twin attacks left more than 100 injured.

Hours after the white van ploughed through pedestrians another ram attack took place in a seaside town south of the city.
