Chennai: Hours after Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami announced that the state government will order a judicial probe into Jayalalthaa's death and also convert her residence into a memorial, the late chief minister's neice, Deepa, staked claim on Poes Garden and said she will fight the case legally. It was, however, the chief minister's view to have a Commission of Inquiry instead, former minister KP Munusamy said. "Otherwise it will just be an eye-wash", Deepa said in a press briefing here.

Jayakumar added that the property belonged to her and her brother Deepak, which makes them the legal heir of Jayalalithaa's properties.

"I will take legal action against them".

"I am legal heir to the property by a probated will of my grandma Mrs Sandhya (Jayalalithaa's mother)".

She had taken the political plunge months after her aunt's demise and had launched the MGR Amma Deepa Peravai on 24 February, the birth anniversary of Jayalalithaa.
