South Korea ready to counter North Korea threats - Airforce chief

Mr Trump tweeted on Wednesday that Mr Kim had "made a very wise and well reasoned decision", amid indications North Korea had decided not to proceed with its multiple missile launch.

"The alternative would have been both catastrophic and unacceptable", Trump noted regarding the initial decision that Pyongyang made last week.

North Korea has long ignored warnings from the West and from its lone major ally, China, to halt its nuclear and missile tests which it conducts in defiance of U.N. Security Council resolutions.

North Korea had threatened to launch missiles targeting waters near the US territory of Guam in the Pacific Ocean.

After days of hostility between the two countries, North Korea, on Tuesday took a step back and eased out the military tensions with the United State (US).

North Korea claims the annual drills, scheduled for later this month, are a prelude for an invasion.
