Bharti Airtel to launch 4G bundled smartphone for Rs 2500

In addition to this rumoured 4G smartphone, Airtel is also in conversation with smartphone manufacturers like Lava and Karbonn to offer more affordable 4G smartphones.

On the contrary, Reliance Jio has grown with a rapid pace since its launch past year, as it added more than 100 million customers in just 170 days of its arrival, according to Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani.

Airtel aims to offer the best mobile data packages along with the budget 4G smartphone that will have bigger screen as well for better viewing of video and images. "Telco will allow users to download all apps available on the Google Play app store", ET quoted people familiar with the development as saying.

Lava and Karbonn are said to be those companies, but no confirmation has been announced. The move targets the 500 million feature phone users in India who are still stuck on 2G networkor can't afford to buy a high-end phone that supports 4G.

Sources say that RIL could well release more than one model of the 4G feature phone at alluring value focuses, including that these gadgets could be presented close by the staple JioPhone, for which pre-orders start from August 24. However, Airtel will not subsidize the handset.
