As much as you want share your support for marriage equality, don't go posting a photo of your same-sex marriage survey voting forms on social media.

Australians have until the November 7 to submit a postal vote on same-sex marriage, the results of which may be used by the government to determine whether it will vote to legalise gay marriage.

The poll illustrates why parliament should simply vote to approve same-sex marriage without holding the national ballot, said opposition Labor leader Bill Shorten, though he urged a "yes" vote.

Since then Turnbull has explained his support for marriage equality in multiple forums, including in several FM radio appearances.

Folau's tweet didn't only draw criticism, however, with many supporting his right to state his opinion - many of which were scathing about same-sex marriage and its supporters.

The ARU took a stance on Tuesday to support the "yes" campaign, joining Cricket Australia, the Football Federation Australia and the NRL.

A woman who received another man's same-sex marriage postal vote survey form has made a decision to re-address it to the man it belongs to in the hope he will vote "yes".

If the postal survey finds most Australians want gay marriage, the Parliament will vote by December on legislation to lift the prohibition on gay marriage.

IT'S a simple question but one that will have far-reaching consequences: should the law be changed to allow same-sex couples to marry?

"I believe all Australians deserve the same rights, regardless of who they love".

The poll found 55% of the Cowper and Page electorates supported same-sex marriage.

The ballot helps Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull to unite his Liberal-National coalition government, which had been fractured over the issue throughout his two-year tenure. "It will provide some limited protection", Wong said. He pointed out that gay marriage had already been legalized in 23 countries and yet traditional marriage has not been undermined in those places.
