Man tries to attack soldier in Paris

We don't know more about intentions of attacker, who has been arrested.

In April, a 39-year-old police officer was shot dead by an Isis supporter on the Champs Elysee, while in February another knife attacker was gunned.

The attacker approached the soldier from behind and then lunged at him with the blade at Chatelet metro station at 6.30am this morning. He wrestled the suspect to the ground, the Reuters report said.

"The man is under control".

The man was taken to the main Chatelet police station, and now faces multiple terror charges. The man was arrested without being able to hurt the Operation Sentinel soldier according to French media, citing the Police Department. "This new attack legitimate fully what we want to do, that is to say, to make this device even more unpredictable, even more undetectable to potential attackers", she continued.

On August 9 six soldiers on patrol in the ongoing anti-terror operation dubbed Operation Sentinelle in the Paris suburb of Levallois were injured, two seriously, when a auto deliberately rammed into them.

He took the attacker under control following the attack. The attacker died when the auto caught fire and no soldiers were injured.

They were first deployed in November 2015 following a single night of violence by Islamic State suicide bombers that saw 130 people murdered in the French capital.

The soldier involved was with the Sentinelle force assigned to protect prominent sites since deadly Islamic extremist attacks in recent years.
