Gurgaon woman arrested for slapping Army man on camera

The subedar has accused the woman of driving in a zigzag manner and refusing to give way to the army truck driven by a constable. After a junior commissioned officer filed an FIR, police had taken in 44-year-old Smriti Kalra from her home in Gurgaon.

In the complaint, the army subedar alleged that auto was driven by the accused Smriti Kalra in a zigzag manner ahead of them and despite giving horn, the vehicle refused to give them way.

In the mobile video that had gone viral on social media, 44-year-old Smriti Kalra can be seen thrashing a soldier before walking back to her vehicle. The soldier walked back to the truck and sat in the driver's seat only to find the incensed woman slamming her fists on the truck door, all the while shouting abuses at the soldiers.

Kalra got off from her vehicle while continuing to hurl abuses. The Army group claimed that she similarly held him by his collar and slapped him too. He got down to speak to her but she abused him and also slapped him a couple of times, they said.

Kalra was arrested from her Gurugram residence, where she lives with her parents.

On September 9, a woman was caught slapping an Army Jawan on the streets of Delhi.

A purported video of the incident showing the woman slapping the army personnel has also gone viral on social media.

Police said Smriti Kalra of Gurugram's Phase-5 was arrested on charges of assaulting a public servant and deterring him from discharging his duty. Kalra's Tata Indica auto has been seized.
