'Juggalos,' Trump supporters hold separate National Mall rallies

The event began with a rally and opportunity for Juggalos who had suffered discrimination because of the gang designation to share their experiences.

"(Like) other musical fan bases, the vast majority of Juggalos have nothing to do with criminal activity", a recent legal brief said, "let alone organized crime".

The Detroit-based hip-hop duo are showing strength in numbers to protest the FBI's 2011 classification of their fans as a "loosely organized hybrid gang", and hope that their collective stance will make an impact on the public's perception of their Juggalo subculture and fandom. Juggalos - they are the fans of Insane Clown Posse (ICP), a rap duo known for gory lyrics and a loyal and rowdy following.

The Juggalo march organizers said the FBI's classification "has resulted in hundreds if not thousands of people subjected to various forms of discrimination, harassment, and profiling", according to their website, which includes testimonials of Juggalos who say they've been profiled at work, school and by law enforcement for being fans of the band or having Insane Clown Posse merchandise or tattoos. The band, along with the ACLU, sued the Federal Bureau of Investigation in 2014 seeking to change the classification but with little success so far. Juggalos are still considered to be gang members in Arizona, Pennsylvania, California, and Utah.

Fans of the band continue to appeal the judge's 2014 decision in the Sixth Circuit Court in Cincinnati.

The band has sold millions of albums and inspired one of the most loyal and notorious followings in pop music, while largely remaining outside the mainstream.

"We think Washington D.C.is a great, safe place to have a rally, and I'm not looking for a fight", Boykin said. At least 3,000 people are expected to be in attendance on Saturday.

Across the National Mall, a pair of additional rallies are scheduled to take place.

A short distance away, a much larger pro-Trump demonstration is starting up on the National Mall. Trains on the Orange, Blue and Silver lines will run through the station Saturday but not stop.
