Samsung finally lets you disable the Galaxy S8

It's unclear when Samsung enabled the new toggle, first spotted by Android news site Droid Life.

With this setting disabled, pressing the Bixby key does nothing. Unfortunately, Samsung really wanted that button to remain tied to Bixby, so it began blocking those applications. These are beyond premium devices. Yes, you still can't map it to do anything else other than its original function, which is such a shame.

Flick this toggle to the off position to eliminate the Bixby-summoning duties of the button. The dedicated button can be used in two ways: a quick press loads Bixby Home, while a long press loads Bixby Voice ready for your vocal commands. As per the latest information, it can be verified that current software regarding the Samsung's own virtual helper ultimately creates it feasible to disable the fixed Bixby's physical button. Apart from just Voice Assistant, most of the users have found this key annoying as it is of no use.

With all that said, if you disable the Bixby key, you can still get to Bixby Home by swiping left-to-right on the TouchWiz home screen.

Isn't Bixby pushy enough even without the button? But that doesn't mean Bixby Home is going to disappear. Samsung needs to let users decide for themselves what their most important app is, whether it's streaming music, social media-or, in fact, a digital assistant. Are you feeling proud of bullying your users into this? Third-party apps were developed that allowed them to remap the button to launch any app of their choice.

If you can't stop them, join them... reluctantly.

In more Samsung news, the Korean manufacturer is working on a 100ofps image sensor, which will go in mass production in November.
