This time, Aronofsky chose to focus on the horror genre, getting closer to what we saw in "Black Swan" but with a completely different story. I feel like it's better to know and understand the metaphor and allegories because then you know what you are looking at.

Bardem also gives a great performance as "God" or the "Creator".

Their seemingly idyllic existence starts falling apart when unexpected guests - starting with Ed Harris and Michelle Pfeiffer - arrive at their doorstep.

The movie is efficient technically. The set decoration is fine, considering the film is set entirely in the house. Aronofsky's direction offers this new mode of horror film with a philosophical touch.

Including Aronofsky's film, there are only a few dozen or so titles slapped with the failing grade, many of which had trouble grossing over $15 million at the domestic box office.

We haven't seen this happen before, either: the studio behind the movie - Paramount - has now issued a statement defending the feature. His role in the movie is to show that "God" is in love with all the attention he is getting from people worshiping him, but he is never pleased and wants more. This movie does not present a concrete narrative, however it is dedicated to creating itself with fragments of events that are occurring to the couple, creating a random sequence every time a new scene comes to the screen, and taking us to a odd but incredible end that leaves us wondering what is the goal of the movie.

Aronofsky, known for Black Swan and The Wrestler, said at the Venice Film Festival that most of his movies take years to create but this was different.

"There (are) completely Biblical elements that I'm surprised-some people are really picking up on (them) immediately, other people have no clue, and I think that's just how people are brought up. D's and F's, they shouldn't have made the movie, or they promoted it amusing and the absolute wrong crowd got into it", he said.
