It remains unclear when it happened, but the 66.ru report suggests that it wasn't long before Russian President Vladimir Putin visited the range on Monday.

A Russian helicopter, part of Zapad military exercises, accidentally fired missiles at audience members and resulted in at least two people with serious injuries.

It shows that the rocket fired by the gunship hit a military truck which had an antenna.

North Atlantic Treaty Organisation officials say they are monitoring the "Zapad-2017" or "West-2017" war games with "calm and confidence", but many are unnerved about what they see as Moscow testing its ability to wage war against the West. Russia says the exercise is rehearsing a purely defensive scenario.

The online 66.ru portal said the accident happened on either Sunday or Monday at the Luzhsky range, 60 miles east of the Estonian border, during the Zapad-2017 drills, which have alarmed some of Russia's close neighbours. According to the sources, three people were lightly injured and two cars damaged, and the military is already carrying out an investigation.

The military exercises are taking place from September 14-20 in western Russian Federation and include 13,000 military personnel from Russian Federation and Belarus.

The Russian military's Western Military District acknowledged Tuesday that the video was genuine.
