Xiaomi Mi 7 To Feature Wireless Charging; Xiaomi Joins Wireless Consortium

Xiaomi, the successful Chinese smartphone brand seems to have joined the Wireless Power Consortium, which is a multinational technology consortium known for promoting the adoption of the Qi wireless charging technology. To be clear, Xiaomi hasn't announced its new membership of the Wireless Power Consortium. Since Apple said its AirPower accessory, which charges 3 devices simultaneously, can do some things current standards don't support, it's not entirely a given that AirPods charging case will support all Qi chargers and not just Apple's accessory.

Apple joined WPC early this year, and released its first smartphone with wireless charging this month. The Apple is launched wireless charging in the recent smartphone like iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X. the tech giant had to bring back the glass black on these smartphones to enable the wireless charging.

Apple had to outfit the iPhone 8 and iPhone X with glass chassis in order for the induction charging feature to work on the Qi standard.
