Clemson's dominant defense continued to flex its muscles on Saturday as the Tigers topped Wake Forest 28-14 at Death Valley.

The Demon Deacons finally broke through in the fourth quarter for their only score of the day as Kendall Hinton found Scotty Washington for a 16-yard touchdown pass and added another late touchdown as Hinton found Cam Serigne in the end zone.

He said he got hit on his ankle on Travis Etienne's 1-yard TD run.

Clemson quarterback Kelly Bryant completed 21 of 29 passes for 200 yards and a touchdown before leaving the game with an ankle injury with six minutes left in the third quarter. He's yet to return, apparently because of a left ankle or lower-leg injury of some kind.

The Tigers' second scoring drive was capped by a 4-yard run by running back Adam Choice. The quarterback limped to the sideline and went to the team's injury tent.

Iowa State QB Park takes leave from team for medical reasons
Through the season's first month, Oklahoma looked like a sure bet to play in the title game and was pointed toward the CFP. Park did not travel with the team for Saturday's game against Oklahoma, Tommy Birch of The Des Moines Register reports.

Sudan welcomes USA decision to lift 20-year sanctions
The move will give Sudan access to the global banking system but President al-Bashir remains a war crimes suspect. However, the partial lifting of sanctions did not remove Sudan from the list of states sponsoring terrorism.

Between its veteran offensive line and its imposing defensive line, Clemson is among the best teams in the nation in the trenches. Etienne, a freshman, had 67 yards rushing along with his touchdown.

In the end, I believe the Tigers are able to get some points on the board and the defense is able to hold Wake Forest to little-to-no points.

Bryant began the season as Clemson's starting quarterback, beating out Cooper and Hunter Johnson for the job during camp. Wake Forest failed on several key chances to make things closer as normally reliable Mike Weaver (he opened the season 10-of-10 on field goals) missed two against the Tigers. Hinton started three games previous in his college career.

Clemson will go on the road to face Syracuse next Friday at the Carrier Dome in what looks to be a mismatch on paper before having a well-timed bye week.

Wake Forest takes next week off before heading to Georgia Tech on October 21.
