Russia, China call for restraint after Donald Trump's comment on North Korea

Late last month, US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said Washington was looking into resuming consultations with North Korea to settle the crisis. Trump, and then the White House, refused to elaborate on what exactly the president meant.

Trump earlier told reporters that diplomatic efforts on the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula have consistently failed and that "only one thing will work" in dealing with Pyongyang. After Pyongyang claimed to have tested a powerful hydrogen bomb, James Mattis said the US was prepared to meet any aggression with a "massive military response".

Reporters even specifically asked Trump over the weekend about what the "one thing" was, to which Trump would only ominously say "you'll figure that out pretty soon".

Mr. Trump did not make clear what that one thing was, but it was enough to grab the attention of the Korean leader.

Google investigating $100000 worth of shadowy Russian-bought adverts
Google's investigation is still in the early stages, so the number of accounts and dollar figures aren't yet known. Google had previously said it had seen no evidence of Russian-bought election ads on its platforms.

"Presidents and their administrations have been talking to North Korea for 25 years, agreements made and massive amounts of money paid. hasn't worked, agreements violated before the ink was dry, makings fools of U.S. negotiators. Policy didn't work", Trump tweeted. In his first speech to the UN General Assembly, he had threatened to "totally destroy" the country, and he has derided its leader Kim Jong Un as "little Rocket Man".

On Friday, a Russian lawmaker was quoted in saying that North Korea was preparing to test a long-distance missile that had the potential to reach the west coast of the United States.

In Pyongyang on Saturday, Kim was telling his officials that North Korea's nuclear weapons were a "powerful deterrent" and that the Workers' Party of Korea would "victoriously conclude the standoff with the United States". "I feel like this is a similar situation, they want to do something in North Korea because it is a sort of wag the dog or kill the messenger and they are kind of trying to force-fit it". "This should have been handled 10 years ago. It should have been handled during the Obama administration", he added. Not only there, I was handed a mess in the Middle East.

US President Donald Trump says previous administrations have talked to Pyongyang without results.
