Spain global and Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea is the third Spaniard on the list - only France (Benzema, Kylian Mbappe, Griezmann and N'Golo Kane) have more.

Ronaldo is the favourite to win the award, after his 10 goals across the quarter-finals, semi-finals, and final of last season's Champions League which led Real Madrid to an historic back-to-back triumph.

However, France Football in September 2016 announced that it had ended its deal with FIFA over the Ballon d'Or.

Real Madrid star, Isco, PSG wonder kid Kylian Mbappe and Chelsea's Eden Hazard have all been included in the final shortlist for the 2017 Ballon d'Or. In fact, 11 of the players nominated for this prestigious award play their football in Spain.

From winning Ballon d'Ors to clinching the historic UEFA Euro with Portugal, Cristiano Ronaldo is a player, who has accomplished everything the world of football has to offer in club and country both.
