Yogi government plans 100-mt-tall Lord Ram statue in Ayodhya

The Yogi Adityanath-led government in Uttar Pradesh is planning to install a grand statue of Lord Ram in a warrior pose on the River Saryu in Ayodhya, as part of a plan to put the temple town on the religious tourism map.

Apart from the statue, other structures of public utility will also be built in the town.

Summary: VARANASI: Uttar Pradesh governor Ram Naik said on Tuesday that no decision has been taken so far to build a statue of Lord Rama in Ayodhya "But, I believe and you can imagine whoever goes to Ayodhya wishes to see Lord Rama".

A government communique said that the statue will be built after securing permission from the National Green Tribunal.

After a presentation by Tourism Principal Secretary, Awanish Awasthi, the proposal has been sent to Governor Ram Naik.

The Union tourism ministry has sanctioned Rs 133.70 crore for making Ayodhya a tourism hub. The riots also helped the BJP gain national prominence. Artists from Indonesia and Thailand will perform a Ram Leela function. A Ram Katha gallery, an auditorium in Digambar Akhada are also part government's plan. The two leaders discussed various tourism-related projects in the northern state, including construction of Ramayana museum for which the Centre has allocated a fund of Rs 154 crore, a PTI report had said.
