Chinglensana Singh, Ramandeep Singh, and Harmanpreet Singh scored the three goals to help India take initial 3-0 lead in the match earlier. At the beginning of the third quarter, Pakistan's Abu Mahmood and Muhammad Rizwan Sr were yellow carded for indisciplined defending. Chinglensana Singh drew the first blood as he scored in the 17th minute, giving India the lead, while Ramandeep Singh scored the second goal. Pakistan were surprisingly held to a 2-2 draw by a determined and fast-moving Japanese side. Their last meeting at Kuantan in 2009 ended in the Men in Green's favour as they took the match 3-2.

Interestingly, Indian got their second goal when Pakistan were back playing with 11 players.

Two minutes later, India doubled their advantage after drag-flicker Harmanpreet marked his fifth goal of the tournament as he fired to the left corner of the post to make it 3-0. India won back-to-back Asia Cups in 2003 and 2007.

Two minutes into the third quarter, India won a penalty corner but India's young dragflicker Varun Kumar's effort was padded away. In 1985 and '89, Pakistan defeated their neighbours in the final.

From the very start of the match, though, India managed to gin control. Right after the victory, cricketers and sportspersons from across India hailed the team's spectacular show against Pakistan. In that edition, they met twice. Pakistan have won the Asia Cup thrice, so they are also considered one of the favourites.

In the Super 4s, which get underway on October 18, India and Pakistan will be joined by the top two teams from Pool B, with Malaysia already having qualified and to be joined by the victor of Monday's clash between China and South Korea.

The Pakistan vs India match will be broadcast live on PTV Sports, Star Sports 2 Star Sports HD 2. We had quite a few missed chances and I feel the team lost a little bit of focus. Had we taken the lead at that stage, the match could have been different.

Two minutes later, the Indian goalkeeper made another great save from a fierce shot from open play as he was kept busy by Pakistan's attack towards the latter stages of the second quarter.

The first quarter started evenly as both sides looked threatening on the attack looking to clinch the opener.
