Priebus interviewed by Mueller's investigative team

Reince Priebus, the former White House chief of staff, has been interviewed by the federal investigator probing Russian meddling in the presidential election.

The CNN quoted that Priebus' attorney William Burck, while confirming the news said that, "Mr. Priebus was voluntarily interviewed by Special Counsel Mueller's team today".

Flynn resigned in February after disclosures that he had discussed US sanctions on Russia with the Russian ambassador to the United States before Trump took office and misled Vice President Mike Pence about the conversations.

"If the White House can't answer that question affirmatively, they have to be nervous", Kayyem said.

He also was present during the presidential transition and served as White House chief of staff during times crucial to Mueller investigation, including while Flynn served in the administration and while Trump made the decision to fire Comey.

Priebus himself did not comment but Politico said he had been preparing for several weeks for the interview.

There are likely two major points that the Mueller investigation is now studying, Kayyem said, the firing of former FBI Director James Comey and the composition of Donald Trump, Jr.'s statement offering a false explanation for his meeting with a group of Russians and his father's campaign staff in June. His voicemail box was full.
