John Hackworth's side won two of their three group games in Group A but finished third in their group to set up a tough test against Paraguay who won all three of their group games and scored 10 goals.

Six days after the USA failed to qualify for next year's World Cup, Weah stepped up to star in the big win at the U-17 World Cup in India.

Skipper Jann-Fiete Arp struck a brace as a clinical Germany outplayed Colombia 4-0 in a Round-of-16 fixture of the FIFA Under-17 World Cup at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi on Monday.

The team of stars and stripes came inches closer to doubling their lead in the dying minutes of the first half as Ayo Akinola's header was cleared off the line by Paraguayan defender Marcelo Rolon. The USA fell, 3-0, to Brazil in the round of 16 in 2003.

On the other hand, Paraguay kept a hundred per cent record in the group stages defeating Mali, New Zealand and Turkey in Group C. Weah, who plays for Paris St. -Germain, is the son for the former Liberian global George Weah, who moved to Brooklyn after the end of his professional career.

Weah was born in New York and previously represented the New York Red Bulls Academy before moving to the French capital. In August 2014, he joined the youth program of Paris Saint-Germain, where his father starred in 1992-95.

The USA defence also was too strong to be broken down.

USA's Josh Sargent of the celebrates along with teammates.

Carleton made it 3-0 off a pass from Sargent in the 63rd.

However, the second half completely belonged to one person - Tim Weah.

Andrew Carleton, the Atlanta United Homegrown signing who had already been the USA's key midfield orchestrator in the tournament, had a career game against Paraguay.

Following his second, Andrew Carleton added the USA's third soon after.

His son isn't that bad either and he's playing for the U.S.

He also superbly set up Carleton's goal. After conceding the first goal, the boys got really nervous and there was no coming back into the game for us.

Riding on Tim Weah's three goals US roughshod Paraguay 5-0 to become the second team to book their quarter final berth in the Federation Internationale de Football Association U-17 World Cup at Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium in Delhi on Monday. Weah, Carleton, and Sargent form one hell of an attacking trio.
