Aldridge' extension will keep him with the Spurs until the end of 2020-21 season.

A person with knowledge of the agreement told the Associated Press that Aldridge will exercise the $22-million player option on his contract for the 2018-19 season.

Last year, Aldridge averaged 17.3 points and 7.3 rebounds per game, both career lows. Assuming relative health, that contract will start at $37.8 million and brings the Spurs to $91.5 million committed to just four players: Leonard, Aldridge, Pau Gasol ($16 million, $4.7 million guaranteed), and Patty Mills ($12.7 million).

In his first season with the Spurs, he posted 18.0 points on 51.3 percent shooting (a career-high), along with 8.5 rebounds in 30.6 minutes over 74 regular-season contests.

LaMarcus Aldridge is extending his stay in San Antonio. While his individual numbers decreased, the Spurs still dominated, going 61-21 before eventually losing badly in the Western Conference Finals in part due to an injury that forced Kawhi Leonard off the court.
