Next to the old shot, a current picture of a healthy looking Demi is seen with the word: "Now". She captioned the Instagram photo, "Recovery is possible".

In Demi Lovato's new YouTube documentary, Simply Complicated, she reveals that she relapsed from her eating disorder after breaking up with her longtime boyfriend, Wilmer Valderrama.

Her father had a raging temper and substance abuse problems, she says. "Can't wait to share this with you guys".

"When I was in a relationship with Wilmer I went three years without purging and when we broke up that's one of the first things I did".

"What started the relapse [this time] was missing Wilmer", she shared. "When I feel lonely my heart feels hungry and I end up binging".

The singer also defended criticism from lesbian pop culture website AfterEllen, who claimed that her hit single Cool For The Summer suggested that same-sex intimacy should be secret. I wish more people were like you.

You'd think, naturally, in the age of Internet trolls, that would set Lovato up for unwarranted cyberbullying, but the positive and supportive reactions to the doc have been what's stood out the most - including one from a celebrity longtime pal of Demis. Demi added that she found it hard to admit that she's "not perfect" while being filmed, but hopes her story will inspire others.
