On the waitlist are Vikramaditya, Virbhadra's son, who is keen to contest from Shimla Rural - the seat represented by his father in the outgoing assembly. The last date of filing nominations is October 23. Singh had two days ago that Vikramaditya would contest from his Shimla (Rural) seat. He was once known as a close aide of Virbhadra Singh. The remaining nine are likely to be announced on Friday. On the other hand, Sujanpur is a Congress stronghold seat and political experts believe that a prominent face like Prem Kumar Dhumal can help the BJP winning the Congress bastion in Himachal Pradesh. This would help the Congress give a befitting reply to the BJP. He lost the 2012 assembly polls to BJP's Vijay Agnihotri by a margin of 6750 votes. However, ahead of the 2014 general election, he vacated the seat and contested the Lok Sabha election from Hamirpur. While Nadda is busy at the Centre, Jamwal is not contesting as Dhumal has ensured that Gulab Singh Thakur got the ticket from Jogindernagar, belying all expectations.

Sources say a lot of surveys capturing the mood of the people taken into account before the final selection, and Anurag Thakur believes the selection of candidates will ensure more than 50 seats for the BJP.
