That has not been the case this season, and already the Stamford Bridge outfit are struggling in their bid to defend the title-they are nine points behind league leaders Manchester City.

"I think we are doing everything to try to win games".

Conte is due to speak to the press on Friday ahead of Chelsea's clash with Watford this weekend.

The addition of Champions League football to Chelsea's schedule this campaign has seen a series of key individuals succumb to muscular injuries, while players continue to note the "boring" nature of some of Conte's training sessions. The players' commitment was very good against City and Roma.

Chelsea has played 13 games so far in this campaign, recording seven wins, two draws, and four defeats, with a goal difference of 30:15, which is around 3.5 goals per contest on average.

A loss to Watford and Conte COULD become the third straight manager in a row to win the Premier League. and then be given the boot nearly immediately. On the tactical aspects you have to work less and pay less attention on every detail.

"Our focus is to go game by game". But things get worse for Conte because according to the Times, Chelsea players are unhappy with the way things are going in training. Every opponent can be risky for different reasons. I repeat: "the problem is [having] to play every game with the same players". But, sometimes, you have a situation where you have to adapt and you must be ready to pay for this. Conte has publicly pointed to a lack of alternative options in his squad and, with injuries taking their toll, has only one seniormidfielder, Cesc Fàbregas, fully fit following the midweek draw with Roma in the Champions League.

Midfielders N'Golo Kante (hamstring), Danny Drinkwater (calf) and right wing-back Victor Moses (hamstring) are out against Watford, while David Luiz (calf) and Tiemoue Bakayoko (groin) picked up knocks against Roma and could be absent.

Speaking on BT Sport on Wednesday night, Hoddle said: "The loss of Matic, Matic going to Manchester United, I'm scratching my head still".

"I hope to have him back very soon, before the global break", Conte added.
