Selena getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame

The star's unveiling will be at 6:30 p.m. November 3 in front of the Capitol Records building in Hollywood.

Selena Quintanilla is getting her own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The day will also reportedly be marked as "Selena Day" in a second ceremony that evening, attended by the mayor of Los Angeles and actress Eva Longoria. More than 20 years after her tragic death, the Tejano music breakout star will join the ranks of iconic celebrities on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

"Before there was JLo, Shakira or Beyoncé, there was a transformative female artist called Selena", said Otto Padron, president of Meruelo Media and sponsor of the tribute, in a statement.

On Nov. 3, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce ceremony will honor the Mexican-American singer who found success with Spanish and English language songs. "Without a doubt Selena's star will be experienced by millions of her loyal fans for years to come!"

The Texan performer was awarded the 1994 Grammy for Best Mexican/American Album Live! "I'm certain she would've been extremely proud and happy to receive this honor".
