Authorities say 32-year-old Kenneth White of Mount Morris was riding in the vehicle Wednesday night in Genesee County's Vienna Township, about 80 miles north of Detroit, when a rock crashed through the windshield and struck him in the face.

His fiancée Aimee Cagle said that she had to tell their 5-year-old son that his daddy was not coming home. He was knocked unconscious and later pronounced dead at the Hurley Medical Center in Flint.

'These kids ... Couldn't they just go skip rocks on the river or something instead of doing something so senseless. It is not yet clear how many teens were in custody and what their ages were.

The investigation on I-75 in Vienna Township closed down southbound lanes of the interstate for several hours.

WXYZ reported police saying the teens threw the rocks as part of a prank.

The sheriff's office says a group of people may be responsible. Several photos taken at the scene showed a gaping hole on the passenger side of the windshield, with the glass smashed.
