The West Indies Twenty20 worldwide tour of Pakistan has been pushed forward to March of next year and also added to the cricket calendar for the next five years, officials of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have announced.

The news will be a big boost to the return of worldwide cricket in Pakistan on a consistent basis after successfully hosted World XI in a three match series and Sri Lanka in a solitary T20I game earlier.

"I wanted to reveal this [agreement] so that it would become clear that the visits to Pakistan by worldwide teams are not one-time affairs, and the five-year contract with West Indies explains our position", he said.

Instead, a five-year contract has been signed with the West Indies cricket board.

The two cricket boards signed an agreement to also meet in T20s for the next five years. The tour was to take place in November of 2017 but was postponed because of weather conditions in the country that were not deemed appropriate.

Pakistan had hoped three-match series would further help them revive worldwide cricket in their country, where foreign teams have been refusing to tour over security fears for eight years.

The PCB hosted the final of the Pakistan Super League in Lahore earlier this year and then successfully staged a three-match series against a World XI last September, a move that attracted praise from the International Cricket Council and went some way in allaying fears surrounding players' security. This is not a one-off series, we have tied up with the Windies for a period of five years.

There is certain news around about a T20 series between Pakistan and West Indies in November.

The three games are slotted for March 29, 31 and 1st April.

As per the agreement, the first series is to be held in Pakistan by the end of March 2018.
