Deleted WhatsApp Messages Can Still Be Read Using Notification Log

So it seems. This is because your deleted messages may vanish from your WhatsApp log, but, they're still out there somewhere in the notification log of the receiver's device and can be easily accessed. The feature is available only for users running Android 7.0 and above.

Whenever a notification comes in to an Android devices, it is stored in the notification log - whether or not it is subsequently deleted by the sender. "The Notification History application is a shortcut to that record", the post reads. It only works on Android though, sorry iPhone and Windows users.

Alternatively users can download a notification history app, which displays a list of all your recent notifications. The message will be in the line that says "android.text". It lets users delete or recall sent messages within seven minutes of sending them. Users need to try this out for themselves by first updating their WhatsApp app on their Android phone to the latest version. No video and image can be recovered, it can only read the deleted text. "We found that the messages are stored in the notification register of the Android system". So, it's just a matter of entering that record to see the messages that the other person deleted.

It may be noted that the app will need access to their notifications in order to work. Just long press the home screen, and tapping on Widgets Activities Settings Notification log.

There are few limitations, however, that only the messages that have generated a notification on the device can be retrieved.

One can now be able to see the notification log from the home screen and users will be able to read deleted WhatsApp messages.

You'll see the Android launcher widget options (We're using the Nova Launcher here), so go ahead and click on Activites.

AT&T Outage in Noleta?
AT&T's Twitter account has received hundreds of calls for service Wednesday afternoon, with a high of 1,200 reports at 5 p.m . Some AT&T wireless customers in cities across the country report they are unable to make phone calls.

That's how simple it is to view those deleted messages.

If you thought WhatsApp's delete for everyone could be your saving grace for all those times you wished you had not sent that embarassing text to someone, well, think again.

Another disappointing feature of this trick is that it can only save the first 100 characters of the deleted message.

Android Jefe also claims that only messages that have already been seen or interacted with can be retrieved. Should you go read messages that somebody obviously doesn't want you to read? Finally, doesn't look like it works for devices running Android versions older than Android 7.0 Nougat.

But while message transmission may be safe, the discovery suggests that notification storage may be an issue.
