Pringles launches Thanksgiving flavors. Prices were reported by volunteer shoppers using no promotional sales or coupons.

The locality reporting the highest average cost for a meal this year was Gloucester County at $64.35. "The cost of the dinner is the lowest since 2013 and second-lowest since 2011". Virginia consumers paid an average of $1.15 per pound previous year.

Volunteers also priced out rolls, carrots, celery and pumpkin pie mix.

For $119.99, Whole Foods will cater your eight-person dinner with a 10-pound (4.5-kilogram) turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, cranberry orange sauce and green beans.

Since VFBF began conducting the survey in 2003, the average cost of a family's Thanksgiving meal in Virginia has increased by $11.44.

All in all, it looks like the Pringles Thanksgiving offering is probably only going to be suited to hardcore chip fans, and may not be a good fit for something to keep around just to entertain guests. That represents a 75-cent decrease from last year's national average of $49.67. 25 percent of people said they start drinking in the morning, right around when the turkey goes in the oven.

Foods showing the largest decreases this year in addition to turkey, were a gallon of milk; a dozen rolls; two nine-inch pie shell; a 3-pound bag of sweet potatoes; a 1-pound bag of green peas; and a group of miscellaneous items including coffee and ingredients necessary to prepare the meal (butter, evaporated milk, onions, eggs, sugar, and flour).

And if you just can't handle the thought of all those people in your house?

"Even as America's family farmers and ranchers continue to face economic challenges, they remain committed to providing a safe, abundant and affordable food supply for consumers at Thanksgiving and throughout the year", Newton said in a statement.
