David Cassidy in critical condition with organ failure

David Cassidy, the actor known for playing Keith on The Partridge Family, was hospitalized for multiple organ failure and is in critical condition, a rep confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter on Saturday (Nov. 18).

The singer is suffering from kidney failure and needs a liver transplant, according to at least one report.

It is unclear what is causing his organs to shut down.

Earlier this year, Cassidy revealed that he was battling dementia and could no longer perform following a concert in California.

The actor is known for playing Keith Partridge on The Partridge Family and for his illustrious music career, through which he produced several albums and toured until earlier this year, when he made a decision to stop to focus on his health.

Sources close to the family said they were told to expect "the worst".

The actor's rep told ABC News that Cassidy was in an induced coma but that "he is now conscious and surrounded by family". I want to love.

The actor and singer was in pain and taken to hospital on Wednesday (local time), the representative added.
