During the Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix, which takes place on the same weekend, disaster struck as 31-year-old Daniel Hegarty crashed at high speed into a barrier.

The race was immediately stopped as medics battled to treat Hegarty's injuries on the side of the track. He died on his way to the hospital.

He had tweeted on Friday: "Positive Q2 jumped from 19th to 15th with much more competitive times".

The Macau Grand Prix takes place on a notoriously hard street circuit that claims numerous cars, drivers, and riders every single year. "Bike is much easier to ride now".

The Macau GP race was won by Glenn Irwin, with the result being declared after five laps.

There is now no evidence to corroborate Wesley Mathews statement that Sherin was still alive when her family returned home. Wesley Mathews, 37, remains in the Dallas County Jail on a charge of causing serious bodily injury to a child.

The statement reads: "The Macau Grand Prix Organizing Committee regrets to announce that, following an incident during the Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix - 51st Edition today (November 18 2017) at Fishermen's Bend, the rider of bike number 8, Daniel Hegarty, aged 31, suffered serious injuries".

Hegarty had told Bikesportnews.com previous year that he had turned to the road events because that style of racing "didn't hurt my elbow so much".
