This ends a long string of OxygenOS betas and opens up time and resources to bring the same beta to the OnePlus 5 pair before the year ends. It also brings the updated September's security patch from Google.

OnePlus recently announced the 5T as its latest flagship handset, and while the phone does have a lot to offer, one area of annoyance lies with the fact that it won't receive an official build of Android Oreo until some point in 2018. While the latest OnePlus 5 and 5T have yet to even see the shadow of a beta, the OEM has finally got the ball rolling on bringing the Android Oreo OTA to last year's flagships.

OnePlus 3 and 3T users, have you received this update already?

Meanwhile, at the OnePlus 5T launch event on Nov 16 - the company announced that Oreo update will come to both OnePlus 5 as well as 5T. As this is an Android version update, you can expect some new features making their way to your 3/3T like picture-in-picture mode, smart text selection and more. Both the devices now run the Android 7.0 Nougat based Oxygen OS.

The update will first be rolled out incrementally and then expand to more users. On the cosmetic side of things, we will be getting notification dots, the ability to update photos directly to Shot on OnePlus and a new app folder design on the Launcher. OnePlus also requires you to give feedback on the bug reporting forum. "The OTA will reach a small percentage of users today, and we'll begin a broader rollout in a few days". If the update has arrived for your smartphone, you should be able to download and install.

Since the OTA is for both an Android update as well as an OxygenOS update, there are some new OnePlus-exclusive changes as well.
