Valkyria Chronicles 4 gets a western release next year

The game follows the exploits of Squad E of the Atlantic Federation as it embarks on Operation Northern Cross in a final attempt to win the war by capturing the imperial capital.

Sega has announced a new title in the Valkyria Chronicles series, Valkyria Chronicles 4, which is confirmed for a worldwide release. Players will take command of the eager, young Commander Claude Wallace, engineer/heavy weapons extraordinaire Riley Miller, hotheaded Darcsen Raz, ice-cold ace sniper Kai Schulen, and more. There's some new ideas including a Grenadier class, offensive and defensive battleship support options and Last Stand actions before death. Inspired by watercolor compositions, the CANVAS Graphics Engine blends visual elements of reality and imagination to create an expressive world filled with colorful emotions.

Visually the game looks pretty good, but it's probably one of the few games that probably would benefit from being in 4K, which is definitely possible on PC... if it were coming to PC. SEGA will release Valkyria Chronicles 4 in North America and Europe simultaneously in 2018.

Valkyria Project 4 seems to be set in 1935 EC, during the Second European War, with the trailer showing footage of tanks and soldiers advancing symbolically over fields of flowers. The game is not yet rated by the ESRB.

Valkyria Revolution was a big disappointment, but SEGA is hoping to put things right with yet another mainline release in its Valkyria Chronicles franchise.
