More Dems Push Sen. Franken to Resign

His fellow Democratic Minnesota senator stopped short of calling for a resignation.

By mid-afternoon, more than half of the Senate's Democrats agreed that Franken must resign, including many of their leaders.

The pressure only increased after Tuesday, when former Rep. John Conyers, D-Mich., resigned after numerous allegations of sexual misconduct.

Another woman has accused Sen. He's repeatedly promised to "cooperate completely" with any investigation by the Senate Ethics Committee into his past behavior.

Franken plans a Thursday announcement in Washington.

After the Politico story hit, six Democratic senators called for Franken to quit, the first of an avalanche of such requests.

Sens. Kirsten Gillibrand, Maggie Hassan, Mazie Hirono, Claire McCaskill, Kamala Harris, Tammy Baldwin and third-ranking Senate Democrat Patty Murray all called for his resignation within minutes of each other. It seems to me now that we're at a point that it would be best for the country and what would be best for his constituents is for Sen.

Students shot near Graham-Kapowsin High School
Investigators determined that the shooting occurred during a fight just off school grounds on Eustis-Hunt Road East. Police are responding to reports that two students were shot at Graham-Kapowsin High School in Washington.

"Senator Franken needs to step down and we all need to do more to make clear that sexual harassment and assault are unacceptable", Heinrich said. "This allegation is categorically not true and the idea that I would claim this as my right as an entertainer is preposterous", the Minnesota senator said.

"It shrunk me. It's like I was no longer a person, only ornamental", Ms. Dupuy wrote in her article.

Franken's office tweeted the following, without elaboration.

"I was really startled by it and I just sort of booked it toward the door and he said, 'It's my right as an entertainer'". She saw Mr. Franken, Minnesota Democrat, at the party and asked for a photo. "Franken's behavior", Ms. Murray said.

Franken denied the latest allegation, according to Politico, though he has apologized for conduct he has conceded was inappropriate, saying he would have to rebuild the trust of his constituents.

The senator is facing other allegations that he groped women.
