Soulcalibur VI has been announced in a surprise move from Bandai-Namco. The game will contain both new and returning characters, with Mitsurugi and Sophitia being the two main characters confirmed at this point. Finally, Bandai Namco has revealed that the highly anticipated SoulCalibur 6 will be released in 2018. Furthermore, fans have been speculating and anticipating a Soul Calibur VI announcement for almost two years.

As far as the story goes, SoulCalibur VI takes place in the 16th century and revisits the events of the original game. Fortunately, we have a lot of time until its 2018 release, which will likely be toward the end of 2018 to get away from any other fighting games that may compete. We'll be seeing a stellar lineup of weapons, and SC6 will feature a simple control layout that will be welcoming to players of all skill levels.

Debuting at last night's Game Awards, Soulcalibur VI will be developed using Unreal Engine 4, and feature characters both new and old.
