That's why the President has pushed for not one part of immigration policy, but a responsible and total immigration reform. "The Administration has advocated for ending both Chain Migration and the current Diversity Visa lottery program".

Meanwhile, Saipov was himself a visa lottery recipient who immigrated from Uzbekistan in 2010.

Accused New York City bomber Akayed Ullah, originally from Bangladesh, benefitted from the U.S. Visa Lottery program, which randomly grants visas to foreigners and their families, according to the Department of Homeland Security. Attorney General Jeff Sessions issued a statement in complete agreement, adding that chain migration and the diversity lottery (which the White House blamed for the last NY terror attack, the rental vehicle steered into a bike path by an Uzbek immigrant, killing eight) would turn away not only terrorists but "gang members, fraudsters, drunk drivers, and child abusers".

"The suspect is a Lawful Permanent Resident from Bangladesh who benefited from extended family chain migration", DHS Press Secretary Tyler Houlton said in a statement.

But when pressed to explain the connection to terrorism from the White House podium on Tuesday, Director of US Citizenship and Immigration Services Lee Francis Cissna could cite olnly hypothetical risk. After five years, a lottery victor is eligible to become US citizen, enabling them to then sponsor an even wider range of distant relatives.

That prompted White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders to note that President Trump has railed against so-called "chain migration", through which dozens of an immigrant's relatives can enter the US simply because their family member made it.

Centre extends December deadline for linking Aadhaar with bank accounts
The constitution bench headed by Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra will start hearing the case at 2 pm. The last day to link Aadhaar to social security services is December 31, 2017.

"So the suspect in yesterday's bombing came in under the most extreme, remote possible family-based connection that you can have under current USA immigration law", Cissna explained to reporters at the White House.

The President stressed his call on Congress to take action. "I am determined to improve our immigration system to put our country and our people first", the president concluded.

Despite the national controversy surrounding immigration, President Trump's stance on immigration remains extremely popular with conservatives.

"It's worse than not effective, it's counterproductive", said Michael Breen, president and CEO of the Truman Center and Truman National Security Project, whose membership includes former national security officials and veterans of the Obama and Clinton administrations.

President Trump's immigration agenda has been validated twice in less than two months' time, but Democrats still aren't listening. It is time for Congress to prioritize the interests and safety of American citizens.
