Asked how many senior staffers in the White House are African-American now that reality television star has departed, Sanders said: "We have a really diverse team across the board at the White House, we always want to continue to grow the diversity here".

The Apprentice celeb had to step down from her Director of Communications position for the Office of Public Liaison. But now the Trump administration is giving me a chance to relax during the stressful holiday season by firing someone I can feel neutral about. Reports said she was sacked by Chief of Staff John Kelly, that she cursed when informed of this and that she wanted to speak to President Trump about it.

The president also bid her farewell, tweeting: "Thank you Omarosa for your service!"

Accustomed to the spotlight, Manigault Newman appeared on national television Thursday to push back against reports that she was sacked from her job as a Trump assistant and director of communications for a White House office that deals with constituent groups. Manigault said that her pass was indeed deactivated in order to prohibit her access to the more classified areas.

A source familiar with Manigault-Newman's departure told the Guardian that her refusal to defend the administration had always been a sticking point.
