The CPI (M) is the dominant party in the coalition.

Elections in Meghalaya, Tripura and Nagaland are expected by the end of February.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Amit Shah will be on a three-day tour to the poll-bound north eastern states Meghalaya and Tripura, starting Saturday. "The more you spread the mud of violence, the better will the Lotus blossom", said Shah to a large gathering in Agartala.

While Tripura has been under Left Front rule since 1993, Nagaland has the Naga People's Front (NPF), a BJP ally, in office for the past 15 years.

National President Amit Shah has said that Tripura, which is considered as a Marxist bastion, will be set on the path of development if BJP is voted to power in the upcoming Assembly elections. He warned CBI will bring out each of the cheat fund accused of CPI (M). He said he had seen a lack of development and instances of corruption in the states ruled by the Congress or Communists and claimed that the BJP-ruled states were ahead of those states in terms of development and being corruption- free. "What I want to know is, if he is good, why is the condition of the people of the state not so good", he said. Talking on crime on women, Mr Shah said average five women related incidents have been reported daily in Tripura and at least two of them are related to rape and molestation, which is highest in the country.

The Left-ruled Tripura is within the sights of the party, where Manik Sarkar's unbroken reign since 1998 is a challenge to the BJP's plans for expansion. The state has over 0.7 million unemployed youths while 3.7 million people live in this tiny state. "Crime has become synonymous with the CPI (M) rule", he added. We know that unemployment is an acute problem here, but they say Manik babu is a good man.

Shah alleged that in the last 25 years of Communist rule in the state, no proper roads were constructed and no facility for good healthcare, electricity and drinking water were made available in the villages.

"The genuine grievances of all sections of people would be resolved. the BJP government (at the centre) has already shown the sincerity to develop the infrastructure of the state by extending Broad Gauge railway line in Tripura", he said.
