Samsung will be continuing its Family Hub refrigerator range into 2018, with the addition of new smart features as it comes under attack from the LG Instaview ThinQ rival.

Price is yet to be revealed, but the Samsung Family Hub 2018 refrigerator will be available from this spring. These include syncing up food storage with meal preparation, keeping family members better connected and organized, and providing enhanced entertainment.

Now, let it be known that a Family Hub fridge is not cheap, with prices ranging from around $2,000 to almost $4,000.

The fridge also connects to a host of other Samsung SmartThings smart devices, if you've paid out for them.

The new Family Hub works with the SmartThings ecosystem, allowing users to control and monitor their connected home from the Family Hub screen. You can answer your Ring doorbell through the refrigerator screen, for example, seeing who is standing at your doorstep in the process. "We've been listening closely to current users and created a new Family Hub that's even smarter and more advanced than before", said John Herrington, Senior Vice President, General Manager of Home Appliances, Samsung Electronics America.

Similarly, users can see what is inside the fridge from anywhere on the View Inside app for smartphones. So the morning readout that happens when you ask "Hi Bixby, what's new?" will theoretically feature the correct calendar appointments and not someone else's. Samsung is also adding two new software to the fridge - a Meal Planner and Deals app, for dietary management and checking bargains on groceries respectively. In its refrigerator form, Bixby can recognize individual voices of the different people you live with to provide personalized results. Feel free to stream songs and enjoy audio coming from the AKG Premium Quality Sound Speaker. Think about being able to control your smart television, washing machine and locks all from one hub.
