Bella Thorne Opens Up About Her Sexual Abuse as a Child

Thorne opened up about her experience with sexual assault as Hollywood's A-listers gathered at the 75th annual Golden Globe Awards, where all attendees wore black in solidarity to support Time's Up, a movement against sexual harassment and discrimination against women, not only in Hollywood, but across all industries.

As she paused to wipe away her tears, Bella smiled down the camera lens and praised her fans for speaking out.

Bella Thorne has revealed on a social media post that she had been sexually and physically abused in childhood.

"Over and over I waited for it to stop and finally it did", Thorne captioned her post.

Back in December an internet troll tweeted about the actress after she posted a topless photo and said, "What did Disney do to this girl?!"

But on Sunday the Cuban-American beauty took to Instagram to show her support for #TimesUp, an anti-harassment action plan created by hundreds of powerful women, by opening up about her past sexual abuse.

It is fearless of Thorne, who has vocally criticized slut-shaming in the past, to share her own story so she can raise awareness about others experiencing sexual and physical abuse. "Please today stand up for every soul (that's mistreated)". Thorne did not state who her attacker was. Regardless of what you think about Bella, you have to admit she is one fearless young woman who is using her celebrity platform the right way this week.

"Trust me", she tweeted.

"On Twitter I'm reading about all the people sharing their sexual abuse stories with me, from mine, and I just wanna say, I'm really proud of all you guys", she says. "I'm really proud. Stay strong".

"Lemme tell you, I have insecurities about pretty much everything".
