Best news of all is that Total War: Three Kingdoms is due for release in the second half of this year.

Total War: Three Kingdoms is set in a 190CE China in turmoil wherein Dong Zhuo's oppressive regime is getting stronger thanks to the tyrant's deft manipulation of the nation's child-emperor to do his bidding. I'd hazard a guess it means Creative Assembly will be building upon the Legendary Lord mechanic introduced in Total War: Warhammer. It makes sense that the United Kingdom, based development studio would focus much of their attention to detail around European history, but they did branch out every once in a while with games like Total War: Shogun and Total War: Atilla.

"He is but a figurehead; a mere puppet for the tyrant warlord Dong Zhuo", reads the trailer's description on YouTube.

A lot of gamers have been asking for more historical games based around cultures and regions that have not been covered by the Total War franchise.

He said in a statement that the CAIT would soon declare a nationwide strategy to oppose the "brutal move" by the government. After the amendments, no government approval is required for 100 per cent investment.

This coincides with comments made in 2016 by Total War brand director Rob Bartholomew, who said the next historical Total War game would be set in "an era we haven't tackled yet".

Total War: Three Kingdoms marches onto PC sometime in 2018. Eventually, three heroes will swear allegiance to one another and will rise up with the support of warlords from the great families of the country's ancient era, banding together to challenge his rule.

While Total War fans may have anxious that developer Creative Assembly had gotten side-tracked by fantastical games like its Warhammer series, it promised a year ago that a new historical game was in the works. However, that game still doesn't have a release date.
