"The Royal Household Warrants Committee has chose to cancel the royal warrant granted to Rigby & Peller and Mrs June Kenton", the brand said. Kenton bought the lingerie shop in 1982 with her husband; she sold it in 2011 but remains on the board.

For more than 50 years Rigby & Peller has occupied one of the most respected positions in the world of lingerie: that of supplying underwear to the Queen.

It is a mark of recognition for those who supply specific goods or services to the Royal household. "She's wonderful. I mean, don't you think she's fantastic?"

But Rigby & Peller confirmed the loss of the Royal warrant. "I am very sad Buckingham Palace took exception to the story - it's a kind and gentle story about what went on in my life".

The warrants come up for review every five years and their renewal generally depends on how much the shop is being used by the Royal Family.

In addition, she mentioned that rumors that Princess Diana accepted posters of models in lingerie for her sons Prince William and Prince Harry.

The 82-year-old former bra fitter did not submit a copy of her book to the palace before publishing because she didn't think it was necessary.

Kenton, who was informed of the decision six months ago, is upset, but she's not alone.
