The new Venom movie has already set expectations pretty high, with Tom Hardy promising to "deliver the best Venom that I can possibly muster".

Fans finally have their first look at Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock in the Venom solo project.

IGN also unveiled the first official still of Tom Hardy from Venom today. The first entry reads: "So how exactly does the Life Foundation go about testing its pharmaceuticals?".

As a quick refresher on the nature of Venom, the character is known as a "symbiote", an alien organism that basically attaches to a human host and manifests as the icky Spider-Man-like creature we all know.

As IGN notes, "Venom: Lethal Protector" is a six-episode limited series that turned Venom into a Marvel Comics anti-hero following years as Spider-Man's villain.

£13M figure suggested to bring Naby Keita to Liverpool 6 months early
When the fans get going and the boys play like they can, it's a really tough afternoon for whoever we play. City have not won in the Red half of Merseyside in the league for nearly 15 years.

So will the movie see Venom as an existing symbiote that the Life Foundation uses as the basis for its own horrifying monsters? Furthermore, director Ruben Fleischer offered what to expect for the highly anticipated film from Sony Entertainment. "I can promise you badass action, Venom's dark humor, and I can also promise you an absolutely stunning performance by Tom Hardy". "But our story is primarily based on the "Lethal Protector" and the "Planet of the Symbiotes" book".

These latest details follow the emergence last month of a photo from the film's set that identified Riz Ahmed (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) as Carlton Drake, rather than the frequently rumored Cletus Kasady, aka Carnage.

Venom is scheduled to open in theaters on October 5, 2018.

The question is though, will fans get to see the five symbiotes in the Venom movie, or will they have to wait for Scream, Agony, Phage, Riot, and Lasher to appear in the film's sequel?
