Chelsea's title defence was over before it even began this season, mainly thanks to Pep Guardiola and Manchester City deciding that losing football matches was just one of those things that other people did.

29 July 2017: Conte says that he must avoid "a Mourinho season" as the champions attempt to defend their Premier League title.

The 48-year-old has been at loggerheads with his board for most of the season having been unhappy with their work in the transfer market last summer.

Asked if he could understand Chelsea supporters' confusion at their club's failure to make a bigger play to sign Sanchez, Conte replied: "I don't know".

Conte and Mourinho have not shared a warm relationship since the two landed together in England in the summer of 2016, but it has taken a bitter turn over the last few weeks. This hint has come amid rumours the Blues are considering alternatives to the former Italy national team boss.

Barely a week goes by without talk of Antonio Conte's future at Chelsea, with the Italian's face frequently plastered on the back pages of newspapers, and his name regularly cropping up on social media.

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte escaped danger after a glass table top at the team's training ground was blown off a roof terrace and crashed down on his Nissan Juke.

Ecuador Gives Assange Citizenship, Worsening Standoff With Britain
The UK's rejection of a diplomatic pass comes after Assange tweeted a cryptic picture of him dressed in the colours of Ecuador. Assange was also charged with sexual assault crimes in Sweden, but those charges were dropped in May 2017.

The move was something of a surprise, given that the 27-year-old is one of Chelsea's top talents, and it prompted fears that Hazard could have picked up an injury.

Asked whether the Blues had discussed Vardy, Conte responded: 'No, honestly we didn't speak about him, but I repeat we are talking about a really good player.

"I have a lot of experience to deal with this type of situation".

"I have another year on my contract at this club but, in football, everything is possible".

"I remember with Ranieri when he [Mourinho] offended him for his English", added Conte.

Mourinho also gave an update on striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic ahead of Monday's Premier League game against Stoke (20:00 GMT).
