CES unplugged: electronics show hit by power outage

Now in its 51st year, CES is expected to attract more than 180,000 visitors and will include over 4000 exhibitors across its nearly 241,000sqm of show floor.

Autonomous, electric, and final mile transport solutions have made headlines at this year's edition of the world's largest technology fair, the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) held in Las Vegas, US, this week.

South Korea's Kia Motors will show off a new electric vehicle with "never-seen-before human-machine interface" and an advanced new "motion graphic lighting system".

The power outage hit shortly after 11am on the second day of CES. The technology show is covering 2.7 million square feet in Las Vegas and is scheduled to run until Friday.

Late morning on Wednesday, the power went down in a main hall at the Las Vegas Convention Center, sending thousands of vendors and visitors outdoors or to other venues.

Power was restored around 1:15 p.m. Expect to see plenty of new smart home devices with inbuilt Alexa capabilities, while competitor Google is also expected to make some announcements around its own Google Assistant.
