White House senior adviser Stephen Miller blasted CNN's "very low journalistic standards" Monday - a day after he wrangled with host Jake Tapper and reportedly was escorted off the set.

Before he was cut off, Miller fumbled when asked whether Trump met with Russian operatives after his son, Donald Trump Jr., got together with them in an infamous June 2016 meeting at Trump Tower. Beyond his reputation for not being careful with the facts, Wolff admitted he said whatever he needed to say to gain the trust of White House officials, which makes you wonder, if he so thoroughly deceived them, how much is he deceiving us?

The picture painted by the book, said Mr Miller, "is so contrary to reality, to the experience of those who work with him (Mr Trump)". He proceeded to talk about Trump's ability to tap into a phenomenon that was overlooked by the political establishment, who he referred to as "so-called" geniuses.

"I have plenty of questions on immigration - you've attempted to filibuster by talking about your flights with the president", Tapper said.

"I think the viewers right now can ascertain who is being hysterical", Tapper responded.

The two men continued to duke it out after Tapper ended the interview, according to a transcript of the exchange obtained by CBS News.

While Trump had a decidedly different view of the segment, many Twitter users applauded Tapper's decision to pull the plug on Miller.

During a Monday appearance on Fox News with Tucker Carlson, Miller said that CNN's claims that he was escorted from the set after ignoring requests to leave were "not true".

Miller called Tapper "condescending" and attempted to say that CNN has 24/7 negative coverage of Trump and the viewers deserved to hear three minutes of the truth.
